The Effect of the ACT-Based Value Exploration Program on Valued Living and Psychological Adjustment

Abstract
This study investigated the relationship of VLQ(Valued Living Questionnaire) and mental health, and the effect of ACT-based value exploration program. In Study 1, the VLQ, the Beck Depression Scale(BDI), the Beck Anxiety Scale(BAI), the Acceptance Action Questionnaire-II(AAQ-II), the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale(RSES), the Subjective Vitality Scale(SVS), Satisfaction with life scale(SWLS), Psychological Well-being Scale(PWBS) and the Meaning in Life Questionnaire(MLQ) were administered to 178 college students. The VLQ Valued Living Composite was negatively correlated with depression, anxiety and experiential avoidance, and positively correlated with self-esteem, vitality, subjective wellbeing and psychological wellbeing. In Study 2, the effects of value exploration program on valued living and psychological adjustment were examined. The VLQ, the MLQ, the BDI, the BAI, the AAQ-II, the SVS, the SWLS, and the PWBS were administered(pre/post) to treatment group(n=16) and control group(n=19). The valued living, meaning in life and depression scores of treatment group were changed significantly. The usefulness of VLQ and value exploration program were discussed.
